It is very easy for the photographs and videos to take on a greater importance than the ceremony itself. Those who have been paid (sometimes a great deal) take a great deal of responsibility to get as much on film as is possible. Unfortunately, photographers can very easily detract us from our main purpose.

Because of this, we have set some very clear restrictions on still and video photography:

a) No flash photography during the ceremony with only one exception. From the moment the prelude starts, until the Postlude ends, no flash photography is allowed except a picture of the bride walking down the aisle to meet her groom;

b) Guests will not take any pictures during the service; not flash, not non-flash;

c) A video camera can be placed on a tri-pod (not hand-held) in the choir loft, in the doorway by the altar, or at the back of the church;

d) The photographer may take non-flash pictures from behind the congregation during the ceremony;

e) One guest may sit in the front of the church with a small video camera if he/she does not stand up or in any other way draw attention to him/herself; and,

f) The photographer may not use a noisy auto-winder during the service. (Some of them are surprisingly loud and distracting in a quiet church.)

We will recreate the entire service for the photographers’ benefit either before or after the service. When you visit with your photographers, make sure that you read the above to them so that there are no misunderstandings at the service.
