Pastors
Report
Over View of 2006 2006 was another great year for Immanuel, Easton. It was a joy being a member here and a privilege being her pastor. Average attendance continues to be on a plateau and even decline a little. We have worshipped, combining both services, in the mid-230s for 6 years. Last year we averaged 174 at the morning service. We have been at this level for 11 years. The evening service averaged 65 and is about where it has been for 3 years. We took in 25 new members, 6 by baptism. We also lost 2 dear members to death. Birthday Bunch is back and doing its job of honoring members and helping them to get to know each other. Men’s Bible study/breakfast has had a great year and is now averaging 35 men for breakfast. I have added a Bible study for people in 12 step groups that is meeting on Thursday nights at the parsonage. Fellowship Club continues to grow in its mission and in its participation. It has become a great event for the seniors of Easton. An Assistant Pastor The call committee is hard at work in its task to bring a second pastor to Immanuel. It is a process that is taking more time than any would have hoped. However, we are convinced to a person that God has prepared a wonderful pastor for us and we will find him/her. Preparing for 2007 I am planning on bringing 2 new programs to the work of Immanuel: One will be a parenting class and the other will be a marriage/couples class. I will need help with both. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to help out in this way. If you are interested, talk to me. 2007 will be remembered for two things: The building of the educational building; and, the calling of a second pastor. And, we get to be part of it. Don’t get left behind. Jump in. Up the Down Escalator Being a church is like trying to go up a down escalator. If one stands still, one will go backwards. Walking forward will accomplish standing still. One must run to gain any ground. I love you all, Pastor Paul Demant |
