Deacon’s Corner
Well, here we are in June already! We find ourselves in the midst of graduation season. How can that possible be? I guess it's time to take down the Christmas lights. My grandfather used to say, the older you get the faster time goes by. As a kid I thought he had had a few too many limburger cheese sandwiches. But it was true, time does go by faster. For me the temptation is to sit back and let it go by. And I get away with it once in a while. But with two teenage boys, I have to pay attention that opportunities with them don't slip away. Opportunities to be the example they need to see and opportunities to say the things they need to hear. Jesus in your daily life is like that. Time can slip away before you know it. Summer is a time when we can easily sit back and let it go by. Please don't let to much of it get away from you. God loves you and is anxious to see you in his house, to hear from you and to speak to you. Summer schedule starts in a week or two. Keep Sunday morning or evening on your agenda. There are good churches wherever you are going on vacation. Go to one. You'll either appreciate Immanuel more or come back with a great suggestion or two for the Pastor. Either way you'll still keep God where he belongs - at the top of your list. And you won't have missed an opportunity to be with Him. Have a great summer, and I'll see you at church. Love, John. |
